Freeplay, a
group of dog owners, their friends and supporters, have been working to establish an off-leash
area for dogs and their guardians to enjoy together at Dockweiler State Beach in Los Angeles
County. Freeplay has previously
been successful with the creation of the Westminister Dog
Park in Venice.
We are working strongly to gain more off-leash access for dogs and their
guardians to recreate in Los Angeles County.
Freeplay
was established on February 14, 1996 in response to the City of Los
Angeles zero tolerance policy for off-leash dogs. This action left
thousands of dog owners stranded with no legal areas to exercise
and socialize their animals.
FREEPLAY
is dedicated to protecting the right of recreation for tax payers
and their dogs. We are committed to enriching the quality of community
life through responsible pet care awareness and the establishment
and maintenance of recreational areas where dogs and people can interact
in a clean, safe, and pleasant environment.
